1. Medical service portfolio
Surgical attendance to children from birth to the age of 15 – neonatal surgery – oncologic surgery – children’s urology – therapy of congenital malformations – general children’s surgery.
2. Specific main focuses of medical care
Operative emphases:
- Congenial and acquired diseases and dysfunctions of the chest and abdominal organs
- Congenial and acquired diseases and dysfunctions of the kidney, the urinary tract, and the genital organs
- Congenital malformations such as occlusions of the intestine, the esophagus, abdominal gap
- Tumor diseases at children’s age
- Minimally-invasive surgery (keyhole surgery) at the abdominal cavity and chest
- Maldevelopments or diseases of the body surface / of the integument or the soft tissue in the head / neck / trunk area and at extremities
- Therapy of burns, scalds and in cases of swallowing or intrusion of foreign bodies or chemicals
- Plastic surgery, treatment of congenital vascular malformations and hemangiomas, including laser and cryotherapy (cold)
- Diagnostics and therapy of the digestive and the urinary tract and of respiratory organs by means of endoscopic techniques
- Operative interventions in cooperation with the Clinics for Accident Surgery, ENT Medicine, Neurosurgery, Hand Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Eye Clinic and Radiology
- Ambulatory operations from the seventh month of life
- Pediatric surgical emergency care of most severely injured in cooperation with the Accident Surgery
Conservative emphases:
- Functional diagnostics of the large and the straight intestine, anorectal manometry
- Functional bladder diagnostics (incontinence and enuresis)
- Interdisciplinary diagnostics in cooperation with the Children’s Radiologic Department and the Clinic for Nuclear Medicine
- Interdisciplinary cooperation within the Perinatal Center including prenatal consultation
