2. Specific main focuses of medical care

  • Neonatal medicine (neonatology) in the Perinatal Center (in cooperation with the Women’s Clinic of the house) including neonate emergency service – emergency physician services
  • Intensive care ward for neonates, children and adolescents – interdisciplinary for all clinics for children and adolescent persons
  • Attendance to neonates in the Women’s Clinic of the Medical Center by neonatologic medical specialist
  • Developmental neurology
  • Children’s cardiology (heart diseases of newborn, children and adolescents) (cooperation
  • partner of the Heart Centre Augsburg-Swabia in cooperation with the Clinic for Anesthesiology and
  • Operative Intensive Medicine, the Clinic for Heart and Thoracic Surgery, and the I. Medical Clinic)
  • Intracardiac catheter examinations, interventional cardiology and heart operations in the Heart Center Augsburg-Schwaben
  • Children’s pulmology (lung diseases and allergies of children and adolescents) (cooperation partner of the Allergologic Center in cooperation with the Clinic for Dermatology, the ILMU, environmental hygiene division, the I. Medical Clinic, and the ENT Clinic)
  • Bronchoscopy examinations and attendance to long-term respirated patients
  • Diagnostics and therapy of congenital malformations, metabolic disorders, developmental disorders
  • Infectious disease of neonates, children and adolescents
  • Diseases of the immune system and allergies
  • Emergency outpatient services 24 hours around-the-clock on duty
  • Children’s Radiologic Department of the Clinical Center’s Diagnostic Radiology with pediatric sonography, magnetic resonance tomography and CT
  • Nuclear medical diagnostics (scintigraphy, SPECT, PET) in cooperation with the Clinic for Nuclear Medicine
  • Performance of radiologic and other diagnostics under sedation or anesthesia, partly in cooperation with the Clinical Center’s anesthesiology
  • Psychological attendance to exceptionally stressed patients
  • Provision of aftercare attendance in cooperation with the aftercare organization “Bunter Kreis”

  • Private outpatients’ treatment by the chief physician
  • Special consultation hours (authorized outpatients’ department of KVB) for children’s cardiology, pneumology, and allergology, neurodermatitis, developmental neurology, home-respirated patients
  • Consultation hours for crying children and monitor consultation via aftercare organization “Bunter Kreis”
  • Breastfeeding and lactation advice, nutrition consultation, ttendance to parents of premature and risk infants (together with  the aftercare organization “Bunter Kreis”
  • Advisory services for specific patient groups: asthma training, diposity training, neurodermatitis training, attendance to home-respirated patients (partly in cooperation with the aftercare rganization Bunter Kreis”)
  • Co-accommodation facility for one parent in the clinic
  • Generous visiting hours
  • Intensive care physician and neonatologic transport team for  mergency childbirths and risk births, available 24 hours
  • Physician on duty 24 hours in the house, medical specialist background service 24 hours immediately available
  • Daily interdisciplinary case conferences together with the I. Clinic, children’s surgery and children’s radiology – close cooperation with all other specialty departments of the  clinical Center
  • Weekly advanced training, participation in the quality circles, lectures at and ttendance of conventions
  • Periodical advanced training events for general practitioners and medical specialists
  •  Full authorization to postgraduate professional education together with the I. Clinic for hildren and Juveniles
