Histological and cytological tests (with instantaneous section diagnostics) – immune histological and molecular pathological tests – clinical post mortem

- Examination of tissue samples and preparations from operations of almost all disciplines of modern medicine The examination methods comprise fine tissue stand practices as well as modern methods (immunehistochemistry, molecular pathology)

- Daily conferences together with colleagues of all medical disciplines of the Clinical Center. Actual cases are discussed interdisciplinarily on the basis of all present findings in a modern well-equipped lecture auditorium, and the therapy best for the patient is chosen. Particularly for the diagnosis and treatment of malignant diseases the Clinical Center fulfills a significant quality standard with this permanent institution as numerous professional associations stipulate it.
3. Further services offered
The head of the Pathologic Institute is chairman of the Tumor Center. The Tumor Center ugsburg is the only one of the five Bavarian tumor centers that is not directly connected to a university. In the catchment area (Administrative Region of Swabia) live ca. 1.8 million inhabitants. In this region, all acilities necessary for the interdisciplinary medical care of tumor patients are multiply represented.
The Tumor Center is characterized by a detailed structure, amongst others keeping the tumor register, organization of roject groups for different tumor entities and interdisciplinary tumor conferences, a psychooncological service as well as the connection of office-based doctors and clinics in the region of Augsburg and Swabia, which treat tumor patients.
