Total nuclear-medical diagnostics and therapy
2. Specific main focuses of medical care
Diagnostic emphases:
- Total spectrum of thyroid diagnostics including diagnostics, therapy, and aftercare in cases of thyroid cancer
- Positron emission tomography (PET) in cases of tumor and heart diseases as well as diseases of the nervous system
- Depiction and intraoperative localization of the sentinel lymph node in tumors cases (since 2004 supervision of the Sentinel Lymph Node Competence Center as one of the leading European centers of that type)
- Diagnostics of the skeleton and joints in tumors cases respectively inflammatory diseases Heart diagnostics (conventional nuclear medicine: depiction of the blood circulation and pump function)
Therapeutic emphases:
- Therapy of benign and malignant thyroid diseases with radioiodine (the only therapy center in the Bavarian-Swabian region)
- Therapy inflammatory joint diseases with radioactive substances
- Bone pain therapy of metastases (prostate cancer and breast cancer)
- Insertion of radioactive iodine-125 into prostate cancer (brachytherapy)

- Special consultation hours for specific patient groups: thyroid (benign) before and after radioiodine therapy, thyroid carcinomas

- Moderation of a quality circle “Nuclear medicine and thyroid” of the KVB, where office-based physicians and clinic colleagues from Augsburg and the Bavarian-Swabian region are meeting regularly 4 times per year
