2. Specific main focuses of medical care

Hematology and internistic oncology

The clinical department is certified as Oncologic Center by the German Society for Hematology and Oncology (DGHO) since June 2007.

• Diagnostics and treatment of all acute and chronic leukemias, treatment of lymph node diseases (Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma)
• Diagnostics and therapy of all solid tumors (carcinomas and sarcomas) including individualized systemic chemotherapy and supportive treatment, pain therapy
• Stem cell transplant (autologous, allogenic) with own transplantation ward, own special laboratory for blood and bone marrow diagnostics (peripheral blood, bone marrow cytology and bone marrow histology – the latter in cooperation with the pathology department – FISH, FACS, PCR and hemolysis diagnostics)

Nephrology

• Diagnostics and treatment of all kidney and hypertension diseases, preparation and execution of kidney transplants  (also living donation) in cooperation with the Transplant Center of the house, treatment of chronic dialysis patients in own dialysis area
• Internistic-nephrologic intensive care ward, all kidney substitute therapies including plasma separation, immune adsorption, kidney transplant, toxicologic treatment

Diabetology

Certified as treatment facility by the German Diabetes Society in April 2005 for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetics, level 1.

• Metabolic adjustment and structured training of type 1 and type 2 diabetics, treatment of potentialcomplications and their consequential diseases
• Attendance to pregnant female diabetics   Diabetic foot syndrome, special foot outpatients’ care
• Intensified combined insulin therapy (ICT) and insulin pump therapy by means of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII)
• Broad and individually adjusted trainings offered for type 1 and type 2 diabetics
• Furthermore: program for weight reduction, hypertension training

Angiology

• Internistic diagnostics and treatment of vascular diseases in the state-of-the-art equipped angiology laboratory in cooperation with the partners of the certified Vascular Center of the house (Clinic for Diagnostic Radiology, vascular surgery)
