2. Specific main focuses of medical care

The Women’s Clinic maintains a certified quality management system according to DIN ISO 9001:2000 since 2005 with annual inspection audits to promote continuous quality improvement. In the course of that certification, the breast center was established as certified institution for the comprehensive treatment of female patients with breast cancer.

The Women’s Clinic in well-practiced cooperation with the Clinic for Urology, the Clinic for General, Visceral and Transplantation Surgery, the Neurosurgery, the Neurology, and the Diagnostic Radiology supervises the “Interdisciplinary Pelvic Floor Center Augsburg (IBA)” established in 2006.

Another main focus of medical care is represented by the Perinatal Center established in 1995 in close cooperation with the II. Clinic for Children and Adolescent Persons (see below).

Operative emphases:

• Treatment of  all women’s tumors: breast, uterus, ovaries, and outer genitals including application of sentinel technique (operation of sentinel lymph nodes) as well as chemotherapy and aftercare (see also above“breast center”).
• Minimally invasive surgery
• Diagnostic and operative abdominoscopy (laprascopy) for the clarification or treatment of ambiguous abdominal pain, endometriosis, sterility, myomas, hysterectomy, etc.
• Endoscopy of the uteral cavity including excision of mucous membrane (Versapoint), hysteroscopic sterilization (Essure), curettages, conisation, and other procedures
• Treatment of decent and incontinence conditions
• Rehabilitative pelvic floor surgery (pelvic repair with utilization of nets for reconstruction of the pelvic anatomy, see “Pelvic Floor Center”)

Obstetric emphases:

• Maternity department: individual attendance, various childbirth positions, alleviation of pain (e.g. PDA),
• homeotherapy, aromatherapy, acupuncture, reflexology
• Maternity ward with family-oriented childbed concept, family room, breakfast buffet, reformative gymnastics, individual advice on breastfeeding, baby room, full rooming-in Close cooperation with Children’s Clinic (neonate intensive care ward) (see also above, Perinatal Center)
• Diagnostics of infantile deformities (DEGUM II), Doppler sonography for the clarification of growth and functional disturbances
• Invasive diagnostics to provide evidence of genetic diseases
